CEO Search Community Forums

Provide input about our next leader at CEO Search Community Forums

City Schools invites students, families, staff, and community members to help find the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by providing input at CEO Search Community Forums, including six community forums hosted by the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners, and the CEO Search Kickoff and Q&A Session (a telephone town hall) hosted by the Mayor's Office.

Your voice will build the future for City Schools students. You may also provide input via a survey:

Skate Night Flyer

Kick off the school year at Shake & Bake

Join us on Wednesday, October 15, from 5 - 8 p.m. for hands-on math activities, skating, and fun. City Schools staff will also be there with school readiness resources and information. Register for Back-to-School Skate and Math Night.

Complete Annual Student Verification

Annual Student Verification is our process for counting students to help schools receive the resources students deserve. Even if there are no changes, families must log into Campus Portal to update or confirm student and contact information.

Addressing Mental Health Family University flyer

Learn to support student mental health with Family University

Family University is back! The "Addressing Mental Health" workshop will be Thursday, September 25, from 8:30 - 10 a.m. at Mary Ann Winterling Elementary School (library). Breakfast will be served.

This workshop is created by families, for families. It’s a chance to connect with other families and learn from shared experiences. Registration is required, and space is limited.

On Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., meet farm animals, see what's growing, and explore the woods, fields and stream during FREE Farm Family Hours. Optional registration helps with planning.

Jevons Liu, ACCE

Jevons Liu was named a finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year. The City Schools' 2025 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Liu is a National Board Certified special education and mathematics Model Teacher at the Academy for College and Career Exploration.

Erin Nutsugah, health and creative writing teacher at Baltimore Design School, was named the 2025 SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) Health Teacher of the Year. Ms. Nutsugah was recognized for her role in promoting health and innovative teaching while inspiring students to lead healthy, productive lives.

New Principal James Thurman

James Thurman, Success Academy West

James Thurman brings 18 years of experience in teaching and school leadership across Chicago and Baltimore, with roles ranging from literacy coordinator to resident principal and now principal focused on whole-child development and restorative practices. Holding degrees in English literature, secondary education and educational leadership, he is guided by W.E.B. Du Bois’ words, “Education is the development of power and ideals,” which shape his student-centered approach. Learn more about Mr. Thurman.

Use the online form by Monday, September 22 at 12 noon, to nominate members of Baltimore's Hispanic and Latino communities who have made outstanding contributions toward improving the well-being of their communities. Students in grades K-5 are invited to join Roland Park Baseball Leagues baseball skills clinics at Medfield Heights Elementary School on Saturday, September 27, and Saturday, October 4, from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Registration is required and limited to the first 40 students.
