For the first time in 10 years, the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners is selecting a new CEO for City Schools. Your input matters! The Board will host the last City Schools CEO Search Community Forum from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 25.

Family University returns this week! The "Addressing Mental Health" workshop will be held from 8:30 - 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, at Mary Ann Winterling Elementary School (library). Breakfast will be served.
Created by families, for families, this workshop is a chance to connect with other families and learn from shared experiences. Registration is required, and space is limited.
Join us from 5 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, for hands-on math activities, skating, and fun. City Schools staff will provide school readiness resources and information. Register for Back-to-School Skate and Math Night.
The Baltimore City College Choir has been invited to perform at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall with world-class artists including Common. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, to benefit the United Way.
City Schools responded to WBFF-TV seeking clicks in coverage of student math proficiency at Achievement Academy, an alternative school serving students who are overage, under-credited, or who have faced major disruptions, including involvement with the juvenile justice system. Under Armour celebrated the 21st annual “Armour Day” – a yearly community event where employees come together to give back – in part by transforming a weight room at Carver Vocational-Technical High School in partnership with Impact Fitness Foundation. As part of the unveiling at Carver, professional athletes Jordan Spieth and Stephen Curry made surprise visits to help introduce students to the new space.
The KIPP Harmony Academy CHARM Club created a literary magazine - "Below the Surface" - full of student writing and artwork, and led by an eighth-grade editorial board. Learn more about CHARM and Below the Surface.

With more than 20 years of experience in education, Principal Beard has dedicated her career to serving students from pre-K through twelfth grade. Her journey began as a health and physical education teacher and includes more than a decade of leadership experience as an assistant principal in both public and non-public schools. Originally from Harford County, Principal Stokeling began his career in Philadelphia, where he earned his master’s in educational leadership and policy from Temple University. During October, Baltimore children with a library card up to fifth grade can register for the Enoch Pratt Free Library's Read to Reef program. Readers have until Monday, January 19, 2026, to track their reading, request tickets, and visit the National Aquarium. Visit Read to Reef for the details.
The Walters Art Museum is offering teen activities:
TEEN LAB will be held on the first Thursday of each month from October 2025 through February 2026, beginning on Thursday, October 2. Drop in anytime from 4 - 6 p.m.
RSVP for Teen Takeover: Mythology Mayhem (for teens, by teens) from 1 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
The Fund for Educational Excellence is partnering with City Schools to host the student-curated art exhibit, "Intersections: City Schools Students Confront Transit, Community, and Systems of Inequity." Students may submit artwork and poetry online by Friday, October 3.
Baltimore City public high school students are invited to apply for the Whiting Internships in Science and Engineering (WISE) by Sunday, November 16. This is a paid research learning opportunity.
