Reminder: This Friday, October 6 will be an asynchronous Day for students. They will participate in online and offline learning activities independently from home. Please stay tuned for updates from the school, and feel free to reach out to them if you have any questions or need more information.

Staff at school can request devices for students in need. If approved, families can pick up the device directly from their child's school. Families should not come to Central Office for devices.

Join the Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB) to make your voice heard and drive positive change in City Schools. PCAB advises the City Schools' CEO and the Board of School Commissioners on enhancing collaboration among families, the community, staff, and educators to support student and family success. Don't miss this opportunity to get involved and join the conversation for a better City Schools community.
PCAB meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of the month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please check PCAB's Facebook page for up-to-date virtual or in-person location information.
The Special Education Citizens' Advisory Committee (SECAC) works to enable the Board of School Commissioners and City School's district office staff to collaborate with others on special education issues and to facilitate positive changes in the delivery of special education services.
The next SECAC meeting is on Monday, October 9, at 5 p.m. at the William S. Baer school, or you can attend virtually using THIS LINK.

At City Schools, students explore career and college options through various means, including visits from adults who discuss their careers. One of these visits was from a Saturday Night Live actor who not only shared her journey but also taught some improv classes!

At 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).
At this time, FEMA will send an automated alert to WEA-compatible cellular devices like smartphones and similar devices, causing them to ring. The test message will display in either English or Spanish, depending on the language settings of the wireless handset.
This simultaneous test may cause a temporary disruption in schools and offices. Individuals with sensory concerns should also prepare in advance. Read here to learn more - HERE.
The Junior League of Baltimore is hosting a FREE Kids Book Festival this Saturday, October 7 from noon to 2 p.m. at The Wise Penny, 5902 York Road. Join them for free books for elementary students and refreshments.
