As outside temperatures get warmer, the City Schools Operations Team is preparing to move from heating to cooling schools and offices. This month, teams of talented professionals are performing seasonal maintenance as we carefully monitor weather forecasts, making sure we pick the best moment to begin cooling buildings. Families, please be sure to dress your students for the weather during this transition period.

Fifth grade students at Hamilton Elementary/Middle School celebrated Black History Month with a Living Wax Museum. The students spent months researching and preparing speeches in order to properly embody these heroes of culture and industry in the interactive presentations at the end of February. Two local icons were featured in the exhibit, City Schools CEO Dr. Sonja Brookins Santelises and Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott.

The Baltimore Youth Innovation Coalition’s (BYIC) Annual Youth Summer Job Fair will be held on Friday, March 14, from noon to 3 p.m. at Academy for College & Career Readiness (1300 W. 26th St.). This event connects youth ages 14-21 to PAID summer jobs with opportunities to apply and interview on the spot!

Governor Wes Moore invites all K-12 students to help the State promote Work Zone Safety by participating in the National Work Zone Safety Poster Contest. Posters must be 11 by 17 or 12 by 18 inches and include the theme: "Respect the Zone, So We All Get Home."
