Are you ready to make an impact on the future of our City? City Schools is seeking mentors from all backgrounds and professions who can commit to 1-2 hours per week or as little as 1-2 hours a month. Mentors will receive training on effectively guiding students academically, socially, and emotionally. No prior experience is required, just a desire to make a difference. The Maryland Science Center honored five Patterson Park Charter School educators as 2024 Outstanding STEM Educators and awarded senior Tylah Allen of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, the Dr. H. Bentley Glass Scholarship. The awards, which honor scientific research, teaching excellence and academic achievement, were presented at a ceremony at the Maryland Science Center last month.

The Outstanding STEM Educator award recognizes elementary or middle school Maryland educators who demonstrate a focus on hands-on, inquiry-driven teaching that engages students to develop creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The Dr. H. Qualia Global Scholars is a selective pre-collegiate virtual summer mentorship program matching students in grades 6-12 with mentors from Stanford University. The program features personalized mentorship, interdisciplinary research, project-based learning, and guidance on college applications. The program aims to empower students to become future global leaders by teaching them about leadership & problem solving, emerging areas in STEM & liberal arts, critical thinking & communication skills, and real-world impact through research & innovation.

Volo Kids is on a mission to build communities of active, resilient, and confident kids through free quality sports programs, and registration is still open for their spring programs! Volo Kids has programming at a number of Recreation Centers and Parks throughout Baltimore City.
