Summer Resources

Step into summer with City Schools' array of resources designed to keep learning alive and fun!

Summer meals, camps and programs are available for students, including hands-on activities and summer sessions with Great Kids Farm, Roland Park Baseball League, and Baltimore Parks & Recreation.

Additionally, FREE summer meals are available for anyone ages 3 to 18 being offered at over 130 sites across the city this summer.

Summer Meals

City Schools is offering summer youth meals at over 130 sites this summer. Anyone three to 18 years old (or turning 19 before September 22, 2024) can visit an open site for a meal. Most school sites are open Monday through Thursday; hours and dates vary by site.

Our Str/EATs Cafe food truck will also be serving complimentary breakfast (8:30 a.m. through 10 a.m.) and lunch (11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) for all youth and adults, no matter what school they attend! Meal pick-up is available at the following sites:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays at John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School (701 Rappolla St)

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays at The Historic Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Elementary School (507 W Preston St).

PCAB End of Year Meeting and Awards Dinner

Join the Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB) for its end of year public meeting and awards dinner! 

Date and Time: Thursday, June 20, 6:30 - 8 p.m. 

Location: New Song Community Learning Center, 1530 Presstman St., Baltimore, MD 21217 

PCAB was created by Maryland law in 1997 and consists of 14 members made up of parents of students enrolled in the Baltimore City public schools and community members. The board advises the School Board and CEO on Policy development and implementation and advocates on behalf of families.

Attention families: Annual student verification will open on July 15. All student information must be updated or verified - even if there are no changes. Great Kids Farm Summer Sessions

Registration is still open for City Schools' FREE Great Kids Farm and Forest Camp, running for 4 separate Monday-Thursday sessions for students who will be in 3rd-5th grade in school year 2024-2025.

Free and optional bus transportation is offered from a different school hub each week, and each camper is limited to 1 session per summer.

We asked each high school to send two students to represent the graduating class of 2024 at their school. Visit 200 E. North Avenue, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to view the Graduate Spotlight Hall!

Become a mentor!

Are you ready to make an impact on the future of our City? City Schools is seeking mentors from all backgrounds and professions who can commit to 1-2 hours per week or as little as 1-2 hours a month. Mentors will receive training on effectively guiding students academically, socially, and emotionally. No prior experience is required, just a desire to make a difference. Those interested in becoming a City Schools mentor for the 2024-2025 school year can apply online at https://www.baltimorecityschools.org/page/become-a-mentor. The deadline is August 1, 2024.

Free telehealth therapy services available this summer

City Schools is excited to partner with Hazel Health to support every student’s mental well-being without any out-of-pocket costs for families. These solution-focused teletherapy services are available to students now, during the summer and next school year. Through the partnership, with guardian consent, every student can access high-quality care from home at no cost to their family.

Hazel Health’s therapists specialize in helping students with topics such as peer & family relationships, bullying, academic stress, grief/loss, separation anxiety, and more.

Registration is still open for City Schools' Summer Learning programs! Explore a variety of exciting learning options in our Summer Learning directory and enroll today.

Some schools may offer their own summer programs that are not listed in the directory. Those schools will share information with families directly.

Pre-K and Kindergarten

To our valued City Schools families with students entering pre-K or kindergarten, we have updated the timelines for registration offers and responses, as well as the opening of the second registration window. Offers will now be made available to families starting on June 10 through the enrollment portal at: https://parent.bcps-sems.com/login.
