The Middle and High School Choice application is now available to complete on the Student Enrollment Management System. The School Choice applications are due on January 18, so don't wait!

City Schools is partnering with YouthWorks, and YouthWork 2024 applications are now open! The summer will be here before we know it, and it's a great time to start preparing for summer jobs. For more information including important dates, worksites and more, visit the YouthWorks website.

Prepare for inclement weather

When bad weather forces school closures, the Virtual Learning Plan pivots students to virtual learning after using three snow days. Celebrate their work by nominating them for the 2024 Heart of the School Awards, the annual event at the Hippodrome honoring City Schools principals. Nominations are open until January 31. Anyone can nominate, so spread the word! Nominate a school leader here.

Speaking Up About Mental Health

How does your student feel about mental health? Urge them to enter the "Speaking Up About Mental Health" national essay contest, encouraging teens to start conversations about mental health and seeking help for mental health issues.

All students ages 16-18 can submit a short essay about topics like stigma and barriers, the impact of social media and technology, resilience and coping strategies and more. Multiple winners will be chosen for cash prizes! For contest details, visit National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Submissions are due January 16, 2024.

Junior Achievement 18 Under 18

Do you know a student who stands out as a leader or change-maker in their community?

Nominate them for Junior Achievement's upcoming 18 Under 18 class! Winners will be featured in the June 2024 issue of Baltimore magazine and acknowledged at an event in June 2024.

Bank of America Student Leaders Program

If you know a student who is interested in community leadership and changing their community for the better, please encourage them to apply for the 2024 Bank of America Student Leaders Program.

In the Student Leaders Program, they will gain first-hand experience serving their communities through a paid eight-week internship with nonprofits like Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Habitat for Humanity.
