Kindergarten readiness in Baltimore City Public Schools reaches a nine-year high

Baltimore City Public Schools’ (City Schools) overall rate of kindergarten readiness is its highest in nine years, according to the latest results from the school system. This result means more kindergarten students in the school system are more likely to be at grade level at the beginning of their kindergarten year.

Approximately 53.4 percent of City Schools students who attended City Schools pre-kindergarten programs demonstrated readiness on the state’s Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) in 2024-25.  Several student groups also posted large increases in kindergarten readiness, including Economically Disadvantaged, Multilingual learners, and Black or African American students.

The unsung heroes of any snow day are the essential workers – including our facilities staff seen here working from the early morning hours to clear parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks at our schools all across the city. While students and faculty enjoy a snow day, the commitment and dedication of this crew does not go unnoticed, and we extend our deep gratitude for their work to keep us safe in the midst of treacherous – and sometimes unpredictable – winter weather.
