The School Board invites you to their offsite public meeting at REACH! Partnership School on Tuesday, April 23, starting at 5:30 p.m. Join for updates on curriculum, budgets, staff progress, and more. Public comment submissions are welcome from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. on the day of the meeting. See firsthand how the Board enhances our education system!

Mentoring at City Schools

Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools), in partnership with MENTOR MD | DC, has completed the initial phase of an effort to ensure all students have access to mentors by the 2027-28 school year. 

When fully completed, the work will result in a scalable, sustainable, evaluative infrastructure grounded in evidence-based student mentoring practices. City Schools has expanded the effort into 10 high schools, serving 767 students.

Orioles partnership

City Schools is proud of our new partnership with the Baltimore Orioles and the launch of their Adopt-A-School campaign. The O's adopted Harlem Park. This partnership will provide various resources and opportunities to enhance the educational and athletic experience of Harlem Park students.

Woodhome encouragement

At Woodhome, pre-K through second-grade students wished students from grades third through eighth the best of luck as they begin MCAP testing this week!

Students at Collington Square were able to receive books to take home thanks to Book Blast, a fundraiser organized by community partner Elev8! Baltimore and the Student Government Association.

Recognizing Commissioner Slater Harrington

Commissioner Slater Harrington honored by The Daily Record as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women and named the 2024 Black Girls Vote Ladies and Politics Honoree

Through her dedication to social justice, education, and community engagement, Commissioner Slater Harrington was crowned honoree for two prestigious awards. First, she has become one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women, an honor recognizing high-achieving Maryland women who are making an impact through their leadership, community service, and mentoring. Black Girls Vote also recognized her as their Ladies and Politics Honoree for her work in the nonprofit sector, which guided the design, development, and implementation of investment strategies for large-scale community improvement. 

Recently, we accompanied McDaniel College and the College Bound Foundation as they surprised five deserving City Schools seniors, with a full-tuition scholarship.

This month, City Schools hosted ‘Math Night’ at the B&O Railroad Museum, where students and families had the opportunity to get connected to math resources in an interactive setting.

Elementary and middle schoolers, it's time to get creative! Enter WJZ's Thurgood Marshall Art Competition by crafting art inspired by the life of Thurgood Marshall. The winner will receive a new Macbook Pro! Entries are due by May 15.
